Overview

Training conforms with HSE guidance, and the expectations of Forestry Commission England, Forestry & Land Scotland, Natural Resources Wales and DAERA NI who own and manage public forestry lands for the state. This + F first aid at work training provides a comprehensive extended set of practical skills needed by first aiders in the forestry & aboreal sector, giving both the ability and knowledge to deal with first aid emergencies. It meets the standards required to help comply with Health and Safety (First aid) regulations and access to state managed forestry stands.

Description

By the end of this course, delegates will gain a number of vital skills. They will…

  • – Become compliant with health and safety (first aid) regulations
  • – Understand first aid regulations in the workplace
  • – Know how to conduct a primary survey on a casualty
  • – Know how to administer CPR to a casualty
  • – Know how to put casualties in the recovery position
  • – Be able to deal with and respond to choking, wounds, bleeding and shock
  • – Be able to deal with and respond to burns, eye and head injuries, fractures and dislocations
  • – Know how to care for people suffering from asthma attacks, allergic reactions, nosebleeds, diabetic emergencies, epileptic seizures, heart attacks and strokes
  • – Be able to deal with and respond to hyperventilation, fainting, sprains and strains, poisoning and drowning
  • – + F covers additional skills including use of tourniquets, haemostatic dressings, haemostitic gauzes, Trauma dressings, and extended care for crush injuries.
  • – Understand the importance of record keeping

Additional training can be added at request including: Use of evacution strechers, Use of medical gases, Use of BVM in resuscitation attempts, use two-way radios and site-specific training scenarios.

Requirements

Students must be aged 16 plus on joining.
