FELINE FIRST AID DIPLOMA

This course is ideal for the pet care professional wishing to develop their knowledge and understanding of Feline first aid and also for the learner who is keen to enter into the world of animal management. The course is ideal for learners who would also like to demonstrate their ability to conduct independent learning and who would like to include the course either on their CV or to provide evidence towards future employers in the animal care industry that such a course has been undertaken or to show potential FE learning providers that they have completed the course. Once enrolled onto the course independent study can commence immediately and the learner will have one to one access with a registered Veterinary Nurse who is also a qualified Lecturer in Animal Management.

The course will focus on key first aid conditions which will include a set of self-assessment tasks to be completed using the course materials and finally a multi choice assessment at the end of the course to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the subject.

The course will be send out via email in PDF format however, if the learner wishes to receive a hard copy there will be a £10 charge for printing and postage.

Assessment:

The course tasks and multi choice assessment can be taken:

  • Online or if the learner wishes they can send their completed tasks via email or through the postal network.

Certificate:

After successful completion of the multi choice assessment a certificate will be issued. The certificate will be produced via PDF format however if a hard copy of the certificate is required there will be a charge of £5

Syllabus:

The course syllabus will consist of:

  • Identify first aid categories
  • Aims , rules and imitations of first aid
  • Health Assessment and signs and symptoms of illness
  • Transport an injured cat
  • Arterial bleed
  • Cardiac and respiratory failure
  • Broken limbs
  • Ingestion of harmful substances
  • Ingestion of a foreign body
  • Contents of a first aid kit

The learner will also be encouraged to undertake independent research throughout to enhance their working knowledge of the subject.

Tutor Support:

The course tutor is an experienced lecturer in animal management and also a registered Veterinary Nurse. One to one support will be available and access to the online software is available 24/7.
