Overview

The BTEC Event Planning course will introduce you to the events industry and show you the secrets professional event planners use to make their events seem effortlessly smooth.

From organising weddings and parties to corporate event planning, you will learn how to combine your natural creative flair with your newfound knowledge to set up a very marketable event planning business.

You will look at the range of events that planners may be called on to create, and the logistical arrangements you will have to consider. You will look at venue selection, themes and design issues and then move on to the nuts and bolts of event planning: catering, equipment hire, promotional materials, costing, insurance, health and safety, staffing and more.

You will also have a chance to put your event planning training into practice, applying your new knowledge to the production of an event of your own - which makes this BTEC Event Planning course ideal if you're already planning your own wedding or large event.

Description

Key Topics

Planning an Event

  • In this unit you will examine the events industry, the types of events organised by its main sectors and the role of the event planner/coordinator. You will produce a plan for an event, considering all the aspects essential to the event's success and contingencies in case things do not go to plan. You will also look at the importance of health & safety and security at events and how risk assessment can be used to reduce risks.

Event Review and Evaluation

  • In this unit you will consider why events are evaluated and the benefits that evaluation can bring. You will examine objective setting and sources of information that enable the evaluation of events and the evaluation tools that can be used. You will then produce an evaluation plan for their chosen event.
