Overview
This qualification is designed solely for individuals who have been working in the electrotechnical industry as a practicing electrician for a minimum of 5 years and possess specified knowledge, understanding and competence as outlined in the skills scan (aligned to the Level 3 electrotechnical apprenticeship qualification). It forms part of the requirements for the Electrotechnical Experienced Worker Assessment, together with the AM2E end point assessment, enabling the experienced worker to apply for an ECS Installation Electrician Gold Card

Description
This EAL NVQ level 3 electrical course is entirely portfolio-based and is completed in the workplace, not at a training institution. The educational programme will be open to those who meet the experience and credential requirements. Due to the fact that there is no defined start or end date for the course, you are free to begin and complete it whenever you like.
The qualification is not appropriate for apprentices or new entrants to the electrotechnical industry.
This qualification is recognised by the electrical industry and is supported by the ECA.
Who is this course for?
The qualification is not suitable for new entrants to the electrotechnical industry, apprentices, or those who have completed an electrotechnical technical qualification with less than last five years relevant industry experience, it is designed solely for individuals who have been working in the electrotechnical industry as a practicing electrician for a minimum of 5 years and possess specified knowledge, understanding and competence.
Requirements
To enrol in the NVQ level 3 electrical course, candidates must:
- Have at least 5 years of proven experience within the electrical field
- Have previously completed the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671)
- Inspection & Testing or Initial Verification examinations.
- Be able to demonstrate that they have the knowledge and experience necessary to set up certain electrical circuits at their place of employment.
Career path
These Qualification once completed leads to Gold card as an Electro technician supervisor, leading to site managers and project manager levels in the future.
