Description

At the end of the training participants will be able to:

  • Develop an understanding of Domestic Abuse and what forms it can take – controlling and coercive behaviour, emotional abuse, psychological, technology, economic/financial, physical, sexual.
  • An overview of other areas – forced marriage, so-called honour-based abuse, FGM.
  • Awareness of any new or emerging legislation – the Domestic Abuse Act 2021.
  • Be able to recognise the signs, behaviours and indicators of Domestic Abuse – who does it affect, abuse for all, different groups in society.
  • Develop a better understanding of the impact of Domestic Abuse on adults and children – parental alienation, post-separation abuse, and child-to-parent abuse.
  • What barriers may victims face when reporting issues and accessing support?
  • How should we respond to a disclosure of domestic abuse sensitively and in a way that promotes the safety of adult victims, children and families.

Who is this course for?

This training is aimed at anyone who wants to be able to support victims/survivors of domestic abuse – in the workplace, in the community, in voluntary and statutory sectors, family, friends, neighbours.

Study method describes the format in which the course will be delivered. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
