The Cyber Security Practical Experience Programme supports your complete transition into a cyber security role.

Your first year will be spent getting you into an IT Technician role.

YEAR ONE

Step 1: Courses - You'll be required to study 6 essential new to IT courses:

  • CompTIA IT Fundamentals
  • CompTIA A+
  • CompTIA Network +
  • CompTIA Security +
  • Windows 7
  • Windows 10

Step 2: Validate your new skills by passing our internal Mock Test

Step 3: Practical Experience -Begin your practical experience by completing the Practise Lab for the CompTIA A + Core 2. Here you will have access to a real world environment where you will be troubleshooting real world issues with Network connections, switches and routers. These will be identical to issues you will be in charge of fixing when you work in an IT Technician or IT Support role.

Step 4: Professional CV consultation - Here we will go through all of the new skills you have gained through the courses and practical experience. We will also add all of the transferable skills that you didn't even know you possessed. We will also ensure that your new CV is ATS proof meaning that it won't get automatically rejected by all of the bots that employers now use. Due to the ease of candidates being able to apply for jobs now (you can do 30 applications just ticking some boxes) employers use an ATS robot which automatically scan through CV's received send an automated rejection letter if that CV received doesn't contain enough "points". We will ensure your CV contains enough of these "points" and get through to a real human.

Step 5: Pass the CompTIA A + Exam - The CompTIA A + exam (exam cost is included) is in two parts and will be taken at a local Pearson Test Centre. You will need to achieve 80% in the real exam to pass. Our Mock Tests require 85% (twice) so once you pass these you know you are ready.

Step 6: Start applying for jobs: You are in high demand at this stage. You are certified, skilled and have practical experience and your new CV is getting through and landing you interviews. At this stage candidates get interviews within just 1 to 3 weeks and receive job offers within 4 to 6 weeks.

FAQs

Study method describes the format in which the course will be delivered. At Reed Courses, courses are delivered in a number of ways, including online courses, where the course content can be accessed online remotely, and classroom courses, where courses are delivered in person at a classroom venue.

CPD stands for Continuing Professional Development. If you work in certain professions or for certain companies, your employer may require you to complete a number of CPD hours or points, per year. You can find a range of CPD courses on Reed Courses, many of which can be completed online.

A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
