Overview

You will learn the techniques involved in the design and production of jewellery. You will become familiar with the appropriate health and safety regulations to promote good studio practice.

Description

The course content aims to cover a wide range of jewellery making skills including:

Designing, drawing, researching, sawing, filing, drilling, soldering, ring making, etching, stone setting, and polishing.

You will produce finished jewellery such as a pendants, rings and a stone set piece of jewellery as finished pieces alongside a wide range of test pieces.

You are encouraged to develop your own design ideas from personal research and drawings, to produce test pieces exploring techniques and produce a final piece using some of the skills you have learnt.

Requirements

This course is for learners progressing from BTEC Level 1 courses. You may be considered if you have enough previous experience. Please contact customer services for advice.

Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
