Description
The University produces highly-regarded, future-facing engineering research and is extensively involved in industry. The Ricardo engineering consultancy helped to develop this course, which is accredited by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and the Institution of Engineering and Technology on behalf of the Engineering Council. Students consider new and future technologies: e.g. creating smaller, more efficient engines; developing cleaner fuels; or contributing to cutting-edge unmanned vehicle research.

Requirements:
A 1st or 2nd Class undergraduate Honours degree in engineering, mathematics, physics or an applied science. Overseas students: the JACS code for this course is H300 meaning that some students will have to apply for an Academic Technology Approval Scheme (ATAS) certificate before they apply for a visa. For non-native speakers of English: IELTS 6.5 overall, with not less than 6.5 in writing and 6.0 in the other sections.
Modules:
Students study 6 core modules and select 2 optional modules. Core modules: testing and modelling for automotive power systems; power train engineering; automotive systems; automotive control systems; sustainable automotive power technology; optical fluid flow measurement. Option modules: gas turbine cycles and turbocharging; advanced manufacturing technologies; mechanical dynamics; students also complete a project which can be based on research or in industry.
