This course lasts for 5 days and will help you to pass the PRINCE2® Foundation and Practitioner exams. The certification is fully BCS-accredited and includes both exams. The PRINCE2® courses for anybody looking to be involved in project management. Passing the PRINCE2 Foundation and Practitioner certification will provide you with the skills and knowledge required to be part of a successful PRINCE2 project management team.

PRINCE2 (Projects IN Controlled Environments) is a process-based methodology for project management. Because it is generic, it is flexible enough to be tailored to any project or any organisation, and because it is a best practice solution, it has been proven to work.

PRINCE2 training is managed by AXELOS, a leading worldwide best practice methodology provider. It is used extensively by the UK government, as well as in private businesses such as the telecommunications company Orange.

This PRINCE2 qualification is the introductory course that will help you understand the fundamentals of the PRINCE2 Methodology. The PRINCE2 training course lasts for 3 days and includes the exam during the last day. During the course, you will be able to gain the basic understanding to work with and as part of a team while using the PRINCE2 techniques. If you are successful in completing the exam, you will have the option to take the advanced practitioner qualification.

This PRINCE2 qualification is the most advanced out of the PRINCE2 courses. The 2-day certification will teach you how to apply the PRINCE2 methodologies to a given scenario and work within any project. You will also be provided course materials and the exam to help you pass the course. please note that the classroom training will take one day, with the exam being taken on the morning of the second day.

The PRINCE2 Foundation certification has no defined period and will never expire or need to be renewed. This doesn’t apply to the PRINCE2 Practitioner certification though as this has to be renewed within 5 years or else the candidate will lose his Registered Practitioner status.

PRINCE2® training has been successfully used in a project to expand the port of Rotterdam.

In the 2000s, the port of Rotterdam was one of the busiest ports in the world and was running out of space. The answer was to expand the port outwards towards the North Sea, in a project called “Maasvlakte 2”.

A project management consultancy called Ambition Group, led by Dr Richard Moret, recommended PRINCE2 as a method of managing the project, but the board were unsuitable of its suitability for a project of Maasvlakte’s size. The Project Director decided to test PRINCE2 by using it in the first stage of the project: the project initiation.

Initially, PRINCE2® was met by resistance from those staff who felt they already knew how to do project management. By meeting with them weekly and working with them closely, Dr Moret managed to smoothly introduce PRINCE2, and everyone quickly started to understand the benefits of PRINCE2 training.

By the end of the project in 2012, everyone involved was fully supportive of the PRINCE2® methodologies, and it was used to manage the entire project. The project was delivered on time and within budget thanks to the rigorous governance provided by the PRINCE2® techniques.
