This A' Level Chemistry Course is ideal for anyone wishing to gain a knowledge and understanding of this subject or for anyone who wishes to study at a higher level at University and gain UCAS points. Paper 2 will cover the following content:

• Organic chemistry (Section 3.3.1 to 3.3.6)
• Relevant practical skills

Assessment of practical skills in this AS specification will be by written exams only.

A' Level

Paper 1 will cover the following content:

• Relevant Physical chemistry topics (sections 3.1.1 to 3.1.4, 3.1.6 to 3.1.8 and 3.1.10 to 3.1.12)
• Inorganic chemistry (Section 3.2)
• Relevant practical skills

Paper 2 will cover the following content:

• Relevant Physical chemistry topics (sections 3.1.2 to 3.1.6 and 3.1.9)
• Organic chemistry (Section 3.3)
• Relevant practical skills

Paper 3 will cover the following content:

• Any content
• Any practical skills

Practical assessments have been divided into those that can be assessed in written exams and those that can only be directly assessed whilst students are carrying out experiments.

A-level grades will be based only on marks from written exams.

A separate endorsement of practical skills will be taken alongside the A-level. This will be assessed by teachers and will be based on direct observation of students’ competency in a range of skills that are not assessable in written exams.

This A' Level specification will be available for first teaching from September 2015

It is recommended that students should be educated to GCSE Grade C or equivalent and have a reasonable standard of literacy. You have the freedom to start the course at any time and continue your studies at your own pace for a period of up to 24 months from initial registration with the full support of your Tutor.
