Bond Turner is a multidisciplinary law firm with offices across Northern England and has been specialising in complex claims for over 15 years.
We spoke to Connor Franks, recruitment manager at Bond Turner, to find out more about how the law firm has found success in its recruiting since working with reed.co.uk.
Trying a job marketplace for the first time
Having to recruit candidates at all levels for the law firm, Connor was faced with a challenge in needing to fill niche legal roles whilst the COVID-19 pandemic made recruitment harder. The climate led Bond Turner to try job marketplaces for the first time in the company’s history.
Looking around and weighing up options, it became clear to Connor that reed.co.uk was the right choice: “[Most] job marketplaces don’t have the option of trials, which was key for us,” Connor explains. With reed.co.uk happy to offer a trial for Bond Turner, Connor was quick to take up on the offer.
Early on in the trial, Bond Turner found that reed.co.uk’s focus on customer service was excellent. “We love our account manager and reed.co.uk because of the service we receive,” Connor said – adding that he bought into his account manager first, before buying into reed.co.uk.
Whilst undertaking the trial with reed.co.uk, Bond Turner also took a trial with a different job marketplace. For Connor, the difference in performance was stark: Bond Turner received over double the applications from its job adverts on reed.co.uk compared to the other marketplace it trialled.
Quality candidates in a short period of time
For Connor, using a jobs marketplace became a simple and effective tactic in his recruitment strategy in no time at all. “reed.co.uk is brilliant for entry-level roles,” Connor explains, referring to the firm’s demand for more entry-level legal professionals as the economy began reopening after lockdown, with Connor finding that he could source quality candidates on reed.co.uk in a short period of time.
Bond Turner made a significant number of hires during its first three months with reed.co.uk which, especially when considering the costs proposed to him by other job marketplaces, Connor is very happy with.
A seamless process that paid back
For Connor, having an enjoyable relationship with both his account and Customer Success manager at reed.co.uk has been central to the positive experience he’s had. He explains that his account manager and Customer Success manager “worked well together to get the things that needed to be done, done” – adding that “the process was so seamless.” Connor tells us that this working relationship has made reed.co.uk an “extension of the business”, leaving a lasting impression on him.
Connor even explained that he kept a spreadsheet of Bond Turner’s placements so he could monitor the return on investment (ROI) compared to the costs of recruitment agencies that Bond Turner has historically used. The evidence was resounding for Connor, who said he could see clearly in the numbers that using reed.co.uk was paying back.
