Young Carers Support Worker
Salary: £23,950 p.a. & 2% pension
Hours: Full Time
Location: London Borough of Bromley
Recently commissioned by the London Borough of Bromley and Bromley Clinical Commissioning Group, Bromley Third Sector Enterprise (BTSE) will be providing a new approach to supporting Bromley residents including:
- Support of older people
- Adults with long term health conditions
- Adults with learning disabilities
- Adults with physical disabilities
- People with mental health issues
This is an exciting time to become part of the team at Bromley Mencap as we work with our partners Age UK Bromley & Greenwich, Bromley & Lewisham Mind, Citizens Advice Bromley and Community Links Bromley. We deliver services for local people to help them maintain both their physical and mental health as well as their independence and employment opportunities.
About the role:
Our service supports young carers aged 4-19 to manage their caring relationships while also enjoying their childhoods. You will deliver a holistic service of support to all our young carersby offering a programme of outreach through schools and local organisations. You will facilitate training sessions and deliver leisure activities tailored for young carers, prepare young carers for the transition to adulthood and co-deliver peer support groups. You will also support the development of a Young Carers App and assist with publishing a quarterly Young Carers newsletter.
Reporting to the Young Carers Co-ordinator, here are some of the skills and experience that will make you stand out:
- You will have experience of working with children and young people
- Experience of delivering information sessions to children and young people
- Excellent listening and verbal & written communication skills
- Good IT skills
