The Company:

Our client is a well-established company, trading for around 40 years in the construction industry, supplying equipment (mechanical and non-mechanical plant hire) to a vast customer base across the UK, operating from various depots and sites throughout England; this position will be based in Barking.

Experience/Skills Required:

  • Previous experience as a Yard Foreman with experience within a logistics, warehousing or transport depot is essential. We will show preference to applicants who possess a Fork-Lift Truck Operating License.
Main Duties:

· Directing Yard Staff

  • Co-ordinate and integrate Yard operations with the Office
  • Expedite and assure quality of allwork

· Deploy all Yard staff efficiently

· Monitor output and performance

  • Undertake regular comprehensive Performance reviews of Yard staff

· Recognise and organise training requirements

  • Motivate yardoperatives

· Enforce yard discipline

  • Promote highstandards - Lead by example

· Ensure accurate paperwork is promptly returned to the office

· Maintaining adequate supplies of consumables andmaterials

· Maintain hire-fleet stock levels

  • Submit and receive transfer requests as necessary and in good time

· Monitor building maintenance and report ofdefects

· Organise and regulate overtime

  • Complete time cards each week

· Adopt safe workingpractices

· Undertake Risk Assessments and devise Method Statements asnecessary

· Regulating housekeeping so that the yard is always clean, safe &tidy

· Create a safe equipment storagepolicy; Oversee orderly and segregated yard storageareas.

  • Manage safe loading/unloading ofplant
  • Driving a Fork Lifttruck
  • Pressure washingequipment and supervising Yard Operatives with this task
  • Carrying out checks and finalinspection for goods inwards
  • Complete necessary check and day-sheets

Additional information:

  • Pension - automatically enrolled on appointment, 30 day cool off to withdraw; matched by the employer immediately to a maximum 3% of salary
  • Bonus is paid monthly after 3 months probation
  • Holiday Entitlement - 33 days per annum (25 days + Statutory Bank Holidays)
