Workshop Technician Location: Ipswich Salary: £28,000 to £32,000 Type: Full-time, Permanent We’re recruiting for a skilled and motivated Workshop Technician to join a well-established engineering business. This is a hands-on position based in a busy, supportive workshop environment — ideal for someone with a practical mindset and a genuine interest in technical work. You’ll be involved in the full range of workshop activity: preparing equipment for despatch, supporting repairs and refurbishments, and ensuring all machinery is serviced to a high standard before it reaches customers. The role offers great variety, from diagnostics and assembly work to liaising with other departments to keep operations running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities:
Assisting with workshop repairs, maintenance, and refurbishments
Carrying out pre-delivery inspections and preparing machines for despatch
Supporting electrical fault diagnosis and remedial work on returned equipment
Refurbishing and cleaning machinery to company standards
Helping maintain a clean, safe, and organised workspace
Liaising with Warehouse, Sales, and Service teams as required
Operating a forklift once trained (training can be provided)
What we’re looking for:
A practical, hands-on approach and a keen eye for detail
Ideally a technical or electrical qualification (NVQ or similar) or relevant workshop experience
Good problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
