The Opportunity:

Deliver technical infrastructure services by designing, maintaining and supporting the infrastructure environment, analysing business requirements and resolving complex issues to ensure IT service usability and alignment with business objectives. Guide, challenge, recommend and monitor IT solutions developed in-house or by an external provider for QBE ensuring full solution & service integrity to meet business needs

Your responsibilities for this role may include, but are not limited to:

  • Be aware of GIS strategy & plans and to appropriately align effort with this direction
  • Contribute to the development of the team’s direction and strategy in order to maximize value to QBE
  • Where tasked, contribute to the QBE IT strategic direction through the production of designs, roadmaps, policies and standards where appropriate
  • Work within and in accordance with QBE’s pre-defined frameworks for project definition and delivery (PMF) and IT Service Management (ITIL)
  • Deliver solutions, components and documentation in line with project timelines to ensure solution meets business expectations
  • Review and endorse, or challenge, solution designs and other deliverables, proposed by third party solution providers or in-house teams, throughout the lifecycle of any project to ensure these meet business objectives
  • Collaborate with other delivery teams to fully identify all project constraints and validate a project’s approach and scope
  • Proactively challenge requirements and solution designs where appropriate. Negotiate the best possible solution for QBE, taking into account both short and long term needs
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders by regularly communicating, clarifying technical solutions and supporting timely and efficient operations by utilizing and sharing knowledge and expertise
  • Contribute to a positive work environment by demonstrating cultural expectations and influencing others to reward performance and value "can do" people, accountability, diversity and inclusion, flexibility, continuous improvement, collaboration, creativity and fun

  • Ensure review of technical design documentation and solutions takes place so that quality of overall service is high and consistent

You will need to be able to display you have the following qualifications and experience:

  • Excellent knowledge of problem analysis and design techniques
  • Strong knowledge of Development Lifecycle methods
  • Strong knowledge of Architectural Standards methodologies
  • Expert knowledge of two or more infrastructure technologies
  • Expert knowledge of fundamental IT concepts, systems, platforms, tools and technologies, hardware, software and services
  • Working knowledge of products & concepts relating to the insurance industry
  • Applied knowledge of processes and procedures for maintaining and troubleshooting tools and technologies
  • Applied knowledge of the design, development, and application of technology for specific purposes

  • Scripting preferred (Powershell, VBScript)
  • Splunk! Query language preferred
  • Network fundamentals (Firewall, DNS, DHCP etc. from a client perspective)
  • Jira
  • ServiceNow
  • AppV5 (App Packaging technology)
  • AppV5 (App Streaming infrastructure)
  • Citrix XenApp and Desktop 6.x and 7.x
  • App Packaging fundamentals
  • Office 365
  • FIM/MIM (awareness)
  • AppSense (preferred)
