Workplace Recovery Engineer

Our client is an established IT provider with a strong presence in the North East. Due to growth and expansion they are looking to recruit an experienced Workplace Recovery Engineer.

Plan, conduct & execute effective Disaster Recovery plans utilizing industry standards and bespoke Linux based image deployment security & VoIP systems.
Own delivery of the customer testing process end to end providing expert technical support for clients during testing and invocation.
Maintain operational effectiveness of WPR sites including all PC / Server & Network hardware infrastructure & cabling, Security & Voice architecture.
Own & maintain VoIP administration for WPR sites using Asterisk based Elastix systems.
Own & maintain LAN administration for WPR sites built on Cisco vlan architecture and Linux networking technologies.
Documenting customer client / server & telephony recovery plans and testing with clients on-site and recommending improvements through ownership and review of the test development life cycle process.
Strong communication and customer facing ability backed up by a proven solid cross platform technical knowledge.
Occasional travel (emergency + scheduled) to clients sites around the UK, including POPs, DCs and WPRs.
Any other tasks required by the Directors

Experience Required:
Exposure to Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity methodologies with a sound understanding of the main concepts of Workplace Recovery and Continuation of Business practices.
Demonstrable ability to design & plan, implement & configure and administer & maintain complex TCP/IP network based cross platform DR voice and HA data solutions.
Industry recognised certifications to professional level or equivalent experience required.
This is a technically complex role requiring the ability to hit the ground running.
Expert level skill set in:
TCP/IP, DHCP, SSH, Telnet / FTP, Serial/Console configurations in (*)nix distros.
PHP scripting & Apache trouble shooting advantageous.
Expert knowledge of Linux operating systems, Ubuntu Server & Client, CentOS.
Expert knowledge of Linux network configurations, bonding, vlans etc.
Expert knowledge of LAN switching and networking with Cisco switching & Routing.
Expert knowledge of WAN routing & networking.
Solid demonstrable experience with Cisco CLI switching & routing.
Coraid SAN Configurations advantageous.
PC & Server Boot mechanisms. BIOS Configurations.
PC & Server Hardware maintenance.
Configuration, setup & Administration of Enterprise Telephony (TDM and VoIP) using Elastix Asterisks systems.
Working knowledge of HP, Dell & Coraid Hardware.
Working knowledge of MFP and printer devices

Salary: £30,000 - £35,000
