Welfare Officer (Bristol)

Our client is recruiting for a Welfare Officer to join their team in Bristol. The main purpose of this role will be to provide a high-quality service to tenants ensuring that they receive the appropriate service and have the support in place that they need, as well as supporting and encouraging those tenants to live as independently as possible. Working on a daily basis to not only maintain and oversee the welfare of services provided but to also find ways to improve or better services.

This is a full time contracted position for 12 months. You will be required to work some evenings and weekends if and when required and also be on a shared 24 hour on call service.

Main Duties

  • Deliver a quality service ensuring existing services meet tenant expectations
  • Manage and process complaints
  • Ensure compliance and promotion of health and safety policies and procedures are adhered to at all times
  • Provide clear and effective communications within the organisation’s relevant departments as well as with tenants and relevant parties
  • Recognise opportunity to promote services, and service ideas
  • Ensure staff and service remain compliant with relevant regulatory bodies and/or legalisations
  • Be aware of data protection at all times and ensure correct storage of personal information is adhered to at all times
  • To report and record safeguarding concerns in line with policy and standard procedure
  • Take responsibility of various tenant projects/caseloads
  • Liaise with specialist providers and linked professionals relevant with services provided and required
  • Conduct welfare checks
  • Participate in 24hour on call service on a pre-arranged rota
  • Attend conferences and events when required
  • Recruit and work closely with volunteers

Qualification’s Skills and Experience Required

  • Experience working within a similar position
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal
  • Organised, and able to work to deadlines
  • Full driving license and own car
  • Good level of IT skills
  • Have a kind and supportive nature
  • Ability to use own initiative
  • Have a good understanding of tenancy obligations and rights
  • Have a good understanding of safeguarding
  • Ability to prioritise work load
  • Passionate about customer care
  • Prepared to work towards housing qualification or already hold a relevant qualification
