We currently have a vacancy for a Weighbridge Operator/Administrator


Between 6.00 am to 6.00 pm Monday to Friday (based upon working 9.5 hours each day), and 6.00 am to 2.00

pm on Saturday (on a rota basis)

Duties include:

  • Controlling all vehicle movements over the weighbridges and weighing the vehicles on and off of the weighbridges
  • interfacing with drivers and third party drivers and processing their paperwork and take payment where necessary
  • Liaising and communicating with drivers throughout the working day and helping to resolve any driver problems and queries as they arise as well as relaying information from the office to the drivers regarding any issues
  • Answering the site telephone and dealing with any customer queries/enquiries
  • Advising customers of permitted waste types and hazardous wastes as appropriate
  • Assisting the accounts department with any queries
  • Processing end of month reports for the Operations Manager
  • Assisting the Operations Manager on a day-to-day basis and with any specific task or project
  • Checking customer waste carrier licences and maintaining the register
  • Assisting in resolving customer complaints
  • Assisting in ensuring compliance with all current and impending legislation
  • General office administration and supporting other members of the team being a key holder for the site and opening and closing the site and ensuring the alarm system is activated and deactivated accordingly
  • being fully conversant with the site licence, working plan, and operational requirements of each site
  • Ensuring you have a good operational and geographical knowledge of the recycling centre`s operating area
  • Responsible for the office/site function in the absence of a Yard Foreman and Operations Manager
  • Processing the hazardous waste paperwork, enter all consignment notes received on a daily basis on the EA spreadsheet and produce the quarterly hazardous waste returns that are sent to the EA
  • Making daily entries in the site diary and compile reports on the waste entering and leaving the site
  • Advising customers who have tipped asbestos in the 3 month period of the volumes tipped on a quarterly basis by extracting the information from the EA spreadsheet and transferring it to another spreadsheet and inserting each entry into a letter.

Ideal candidates must have:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and telephone manner - being friendly, polite, and professional at all times
  • Good attention to detail to ensure accuracy of information
  • Good organisation, communication and IT skills (Word, Excel)
  • Good geographical knowledge of the operational area
  • Experience of working within a busy and fast paced office environment
  • The ability to remain calm and patient when under pressure.
