The Ocado General Merchandise (GM) business is expanding rapidly, growing ranges and launching new specialist websites, enabling us to offer our customers the ultimate one stop shop. We are looking for an individual who will thrive and develop themselves in this fast moving and ever evolving environment, working on our destination sites and Ocado’s General Merchandise range.

Job Purpose

To assist with General Merchandise Merchandising on both Ocado.com and destination sites. Merchandising are responsible for optimising the conversion of site visitors to customers. This is done by representing our products as best we can (titles, descriptions, images), making the category structure easy to shop and using the website functionality and assets to raise visibility of non-food products and inspire customers to buy into our range. This role is for the Your Pet team who manage the Fetch.co.uk website along with the Non-Food Pet range and garden categories on Ocado

Roles & Responsibilities include:

  • Take responsibility for images and product information of existing and new products, ensuring that they are correct and contain enough information for customers to make informed purchases (eg responsibility for the ranging and delisting of products on-site/ensuring products have relevant subs and alts etc)
  • Work with the buying team and suppliers to continually develop product information and imagery
  • Populating and updating internal systems and excel spreadsheets and googledocs
  • Ensure new and existing products are tagged into the appropriate aisles
  • Support regular reviews of navigation of our current onsite ranges
  • Read and assess the suitability of product reviews and ensure that a response is given if required
  • Assist with monthly promotion changeovers - briefing the design team for artwork, making sure all artwork and product listings are on-site with correct promotional messages and imagery, liasing with buying to confirm all promotions are confirmed and with stock control team to ensure there is good stock holding on all promotional lines
  • Support category reviews evaluating our merchandising compared to our competitors
  • Deal with all customer queries and work with internal teams to resolve any issues that may arise
  • Attend ad hoc supplier meetings with the Buying Team to enable better support for product launches and merchandising activity
  • Liaise with Demand Managers when commencing promotional merchandising onsite to ensure adequate stock availability
  • Provide general administrative cover as required to the wider Non Food team in cases of absence/holiday

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Strong administration skills to maintain consistent and high quality product listings
  • Strong attention to detail, ensuring information is accurate
  • Good communication skills as you will be liaising with a number of different teams including buying, marketing & creative and suppliers
  • PC literate, including Excel, as well as a quick learner, as the role will require the use of a number of different internal systems
  • You also need to be organised to deal with lots of different tasks at the same time
  • You need to be a flexible team player who’s willing to get stuck in and help out whenever needed
  • Enthusiasm and a desire to learn are essential
  • Customer focused as the more you can understand our customers’ needs, the easier and more fulfilling this job will be
  • Creativity - to come up with new sales and seasonal initiatives
