Key responsibilities and duties - daily tasks will include but not be limited to:
* Operational Management
o Make sure procedures, standards and timeframes for all aspects of stock in (including booking in, put away, shelf allocation etc.) are communicated to warehouse operatives and acted upon.
o Make sure procedures, standards and timeframes for all aspects of stock out are communicated to warehouse operatives and acted upon.
o Supervise, monitor and process goods in, goods out including inter-branch transfers and control the marshalling area.
o Supervise the activities of warehouse operatives to meet deadlines and quality standards, taking account of the impact outside own area of responsibility.
o Be accountable for completion of standard or non-standard tasks within the warehouse
o Make sure all photography of customer's orders are done and kept on file as required.
o Maintain stock integrity via regular stop and search procedure, and thorough investigation of any missing stock.
o Train and promote the use of electronic arm-mounted devices and other IT-related systems to further enhance efficiencies within the warehouse.
* Resource Management
o Plan, monitor and adjust staffing levels including holidays and task allocation to organise completion of warehouse daily duties, goods in dispatch and stock management in line with time, cost, quality targets.
o Make sure all stock is handled in a way that minimises the risk of damage while in stock including regular pick bin management.
o Control hours and overtime by operating to agreed standards of staff utilisation, and within budget under the consultation of the Warehouse Manager.
o Demonstrate awareness of cost/benefit as applicable to tasks performed e.g. overtime.
o Support the identification of ways to reduce costs/waste or inefficiencies.
o Constantly look for ways to improve efficiencies or save costs.
* People Management
o Lead, develop, and motivate a team of warehouse operatives, making sure picking, packing, labelling, and shipping standards are adhered to
o Ensure conduct standards are communicated and monitored.
o Run Daily team briefings, using them as a two-way communication channel with the Warehouse Manager.
o Take action on holding initial performance or conduct conversations in a timely manner.
o Support return-to-work interviews and absence management processes when required.
o Effectively process electronic information using the various computer systems as required (K8).
o Deliver some on-the-job training and development for warehouse operatives (e.g. induction).
o Working with the Warehouse Manager, and HR & Recruitment Advisor, contribute to the recruitment and selection of new warehouse operatives.
o Work closely with Warehouse Manager and internal training department to improve own and others performance or skill set.
o Promote ideas and suggestions from warehouse employees on an ongoing basis to improve procedures within the warehouse.
* Health and Safety
o Make sure there is full PPE compliance in own area.
o Make sure all staff are wearing their FPS-issued work wear.
o Promote safe working practices (including the safe operation of all electro-mechanical and handling equipment through operator checks and defect reporting)
o Ensure the safety of physical environment (FLT use, stock placement) for self, staff, and visitors to the warehouse.
o Contribute to a secure, safe, and healthy working environment (e.g. housekeeping/tidiness checks).
o Ensure all machinery is maintained daily, regularly serviced, repaired as necessary and all actions are logged correctly.
o Ensure the forklift charging area/Parking zone is operated strictly within the procedures laid down
