Currently recruiting for a Warehouse Operative to support a Chemical Manufacturing site in Gillingham, Dorset.

Your role:

The primary responsibility is to support the day to day operations for specialist / non-standard Supply Chain Solutions.

These include services such as the handling and packing of deep frozen (-200C) cell lines (ECACC, S-A, Axiogenesis, Custom STL Cells, MTOX and Janssen inventory), the distribution of proficiency and other test kits (RTC, FERA, Duolink, Springer), over labeling of materials before shipping (Cerilliant & HiTech), and the accurate weighing of custom amounts of chemical product into correct designated vials along with the management of customer inventory (CPR, Aldrich Market Select, J&J); ensuring specialist equipment is maintained; taking part in initiatives to find solutions to new business proposals; and being backup to other specialist operations such as Genewiz, Mission, RTCCustom etc.

Ensure all operational housekeeping, safety, and quality standards are maintained and checked as required. Ensure all regulatory safety checks are made on essential equipment as per schedules and all results are recorded in the correct manner and on time. Follow the relevant packing and handling instructions for each operation.

Be able to use Excel & Google Sheets and Lotus Notes group mailboxes to track international customer orders.

 

Who you are:

Education:
  • Essential: GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths.
  • Desirable: NVQ or equivalent (Level 2 in warehousing and distribution), GCSE or equivalent in chemistry.

     

    Experience/key achievements:
  • Extensive period of work within a warehouse environment
  • Experience of all aspects of material movement within a warehouse environment from goods receipt to despatch Experience of handling hazardous substances.
  • Period of achieving productivity levels to given targets.
  • Experience of using weight as a measure.

     

    Skills/Knowledge:
  • Critical: Good mathematics skills, communication skills.
  • Essential: Intermediate level MS Excel (using formula’s, VLookups Pivot tables). Chemical handling and shipping (IATA, ADR, IMO)

    Desirable: Certificate in hazardous chemicals handling. Good SAP knowledge (inventory look up, delivery & transfer order processing, booking in inventory).
