Warehouse Operative

Hours: 37.5 hours

Permanent/Fixed Term: Permanent

Location: Cheltenham

Key Objectives

  • Unload and receive goods inwards, putting to store after inspection
  • Pick and issue materials required for production
  • Receive manufactured goods and put to store
  • Prepare goods for customer despatch and load onto collecting vehicles
  • Ensure inventory is accurate and aligned to ERP system at all times
  • Establish productive and flexible teamworking relationships, providing mutual cover as required to ensure smooth and continuous factory operation

Key Tasks and responsibilities

General Warehouse

  • Take responsibility for your own health & safety and support factory health & safety committee, and such activities as fire warden
  • Take responsibility for the accuracy of stock levels, conducting periodic random stock-checks to confirm
  • Support annual stocktake process
  • Maintain the warehouse and its equipment in a safe, clean and tiny manner

Goods Receiving:

  • Unload goods from delivery vehicle, using forklift where necessary, check quantities, place in receiving bay, take inspection samples and update stock control system
  • Promptly report damages or shortages to the Production Manager and Demand Planner
  • Print and apply identification labels to goods after inspection, put away in storage racking and update stock control system with racking location


  • Issue materials to production orders accurately and on time
  • Assist production team through delivering materials to line
  • Receive completed production orders from the shop floor and return to stock of unused materials in timely manner


  • Pick goods to despatch list, print labels and prepare customer sales orders in advance of collection to customers’ pallet specification
  • Take photos of prepared pallets to prove good condition of goods prior to despatch
  • Load customer orders swiftly and safely onto the collection vehicle
  • Ensure that despatch documents are signed by the collecting driver and a note made of the carrier name and vehicle registration number.

Qualifications & Experience Requirements:

  • Thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Previous warehouse experience essential
  • Counter balance fork lift licence required, ideally narrow-aisle vehicle
  • Ability to carry out physical tasks, follows manual handling training
