Warehouse Operative

Our client has a permanent vacancy for a Warehouse Operative to conduct order picking and stock replenishment in the warehouses and despatch areas to ensure that customer deadlines and company regulations for stock control are adhered to. You will be using mechanical handling equipment and Automatic warehouse equipment as required.

This will be a weekly rotating shift pattern 06:00 - 14:00 / 14:00 22:00 Mon - Thurs, 06:00 - 12:00 / 12:00 - 18:00 Friday.


  • Using SAP generated information, picking materials, then packing materials for delivery.

  • Complete all transactions and documents correctly in the course of picking using hand scanners and PC’s as required.

  • Ensure materials are directed to the relevant department and logged as received.

  • Ensure that materials are stored safely according to the Company system and any discrepancies noted and reported.

  • Operate overhead cranes and be able to correct minor faults subject to being trained.

  • Ensuring correct lifting equipment is used at all times.

  • Operate forklift trucks (counterbalance, reach, four way and aisle-trucks).

  • Carrying out all checks as specified and recording in log books.

  • Organise/assist in the loading/unloading of Supplier/Customer vehicles.

  • Ensure safe practice of work is exhibited at all times.

  • Keep all work areas in good order, ensuring housekeeping, is to a high standard.

  • Be aware of the safety of others and the affect this can have on productivity.

  • To be flexible and work as requested in all areas of the warehouse.

  • To carry out stock checks periodically or at year end taking care to record information accurately on the scanners or PC’s provided.

  • To work in a team environment ensuring work is shared between team members.


  • Physically fit (job involves a certain amount of lifting)

  • A fair level of numeracy and literacy

  • Ability to use and understand hand scanners

  • Some PC knowledge

  • Proven warehouse experience

  • Responsible attitude to safety

  • Co-operative attitude towards supervisors and fellow workers

  • Flexible as regards working hours (some overtime, plus shift work may be involved)


  • Forklift truck licence

  • Crane experience

  • First aid/health and safety training/qualifications

  • SAP Knowledge

  • Understanding of automated warehouse systems.
