Ward Clerk - General Surgery

You will provide a comprehensive and efficient ward administrative service for Medical and Nursing staff. You will act as a focal point for patients being admitted to ward ensuring all patient demographic details are correct and updating these if required using the patient administration system Trakcare. You will deal with telephone calls, face-to-face, electronic and written communication with users of the service, particularly patients and relatives, secretarial, Medical and Nursing staff. The role of the job is extremely demanding and a high degree of accuracy is required at all times. You are required to use a great deal of initiative and competency whilst exercising a high degree of confidentiality. You are responsible for prioritising and scheduling your own workload to ensure all paperwork is prepared on time for all admissions. You are part of a wider team and may be required to provide essential support to other areas during periods of leave. Having an HNC/SVQII in Secretarial Studies/Business Administration/Medical Secretary Diploma or equivalent experience would be desirable. It is essential that you are proficient in Microsoft Word and having good keyboard skills would be desirable. The shift pattern for this post is Monday - Friday 8.30am - 4.30pm.
