JLR Healthcare are working alongside a well established company and we are recruiting for permanent staff for a new service based in the Preston area which is due to open March.
The new service is a 2 bed boys home age 11-17 and we are looking for candidates who would like the opportunity to join a leading social care company and make a difference to young peoples lives.
Position Title: Residential Childcare Practitioner Waking Nights
Position Responsible to: Team Leader / Registered Home Manager
Contract 3 x Nights Per Week (35 Hours)
To provide high quality child care practice, within our clients model of an integrated therapeutic approach, across all residential homes.
To support the Registered Home Manager to ensure that a therapeutic environment is developed in accordance with the Companys core values.
To ensure efficient and effective service delivery with a view to supporting the positive development of the staff, service and
organisation and improved outcomes for every young person.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Actively safeguard and promote the welfare of the children and young people in our care.
Promote the delivery of a safe, structured and nurturing environment and immediately report any unsafe practices, conditions or concerns.
Assist in the implementation of care and placement plans, taking into account the views of the young person.
Contribute to placement planning, participate in reviews and other meetings and write and edit reports when required.
Ensure the delivery of all key worker responsibilities including the delivery of direct work.
Ensure ongoing assessment of children and young peoples needs in day to day practice, and be able to evidence achievements using outcomes measuring tools where appropriate.
Promote young peoples participation, to ensure young people are actively involved in the environment and day to day activities of the home.
Relate to and engage young people who display challenging behaviour and utilise a variety of behaviour management strategies.
Assist young people to identify unsafe, dangerous, harmful and abusive situations, individuals and groups.
Provide a caring and supportive environment for children and young people that respects and affirms their racial, cultural and religious identity and lifestyle.
Ensure the rights and needs of children and young people are met as fully as possible whether spiritual, physical, intellectual, cultural or social.
Ensure an open culture is created so that children and young people feel they can complain and that they are listened to.
Be aware of relevant information that requires daily attention and ensure that all information is recorded accurately and legibly and communicated appropriately.
Attend and participate in supervision and staff meetings as required by governing regulations.
Work as part of a multi- disciplinary team both within the home and with external agencies.
Support the team in assessing, defining issues and identifying solutions to challenges presented.
Develop and maintain professional working relationships with colleagues, professionals, children and families.
Work in line with the Statement of Purpose of the service, and ensure effective delivery of the policies and procedures of the home and the organisation.
Ensure that all administrative requirements of the home are maintained in such a way that they are compliant with good childcare practices, homes procedures, company policies and childrens regulations.
At all times promote and ensure anti discriminatory practice.
Undertake all relevant training as required by governing regulation, guidance and the Company.
Co-operate with the Company in complying with the Health and Safety requirements and Company policies.
Acquaint yourself with the Health and Safety Procedures at your place of work and report any unsafe practices and conditions.
Sleeping in / shift work on a rota system, including evenings and weekends.
Provide cover to other homes within the company when required.
