Waking Night Support Worker - Plymouth

Posted 23 November by Mencap Ended

Are you a night owl who wants to finish work each night knowing that you have made a difference?

We are looking for a positive, compassionate and caring Support Worker to work within our Plymouth service where we support 9 people with a learning disability.

You will be responsible and involved in the everyday (or night rather!) life of the people that we support, making sure that they are fully involved when it comes to receiving the support that they all need and want.

The people that we support in this service have complex health needs - our Wake Night Support Workers are there to spend time with the people that we support before they go to bed, assist in helping the people that we support get into bed and perform routine checks throughout the night, and support the individuals in the morning.

It's really important that you are comfortable and interested in working with people who have complex health issues.

This is a really interesting role where your nights will vary. The team that work within this service are really friendly and happy as are the people we support here and everyone is really excited to meet the new Support Worker who will be supporting them throughout the night!

In addition to your routine checks on the people that we support there will be domestic duties, some ironing, washing and light cleaning.

We put the people who we support at the heart of what we do. We make sure that everyone is as equally involved with the recruitment process as our very own recruitment team. If you look at the pink box titled"additional information" you'll see some information about some of the people that we support.

Our Waking Night shift runs from 21:00 - 08:00 and the service is commutable by public transport. You will be required to work some weekends and bank holidays - we do try to be flexible and plan our rota's in advance to accommodate your own commitments, but ideally you will be someone who can be as flexible as possible.

An enhanced DBS will be required for each successful candidate (Paid for by Mencap, T&Cs apply)

This position is based in Plymouth which has excellent links to public transport.
