Posted 9 March by Mencap Ended

Are you a night owl looking for an opportunity where you can really make a difference?

We are looking for a positive, fun and caring Support Worker to work within our residential service in Truro!

So what does our Truro service look like?

Well it's a mixed medley of personalities, interests, hobbies and passions! We a lady who loves arts and crafts and enjoys making her own jewelry with beads. If you're the creative type you might get on well with our art enthusiast but it doesn't stop with art, he loves attending the ballet and opera too! In this service we also have a wildlife enthusiast, a keen dancer, and a butterfly lover! One thing about the people that we support in this service that they all have in common is that they all LOVE food! We'd love you to read on if you still have an appetite for this role…

We have lots of different support needs in this service, some of the people that we support need a guiding hand in their everyday endeavours, whereas others require their Support Worker to be a little bit more involved, assisting with personal care and medication - so it's important that you are comfortable with this (but don't worry - we provide fantastic award winning training). We provide a person centered approach and support these individuals in all of the ways that they want to be supported, as well as the ways that they need to be supported.

As this is a Wake Night role your role will primarily be to support in the evenings and with activities before the people that we support go to sleep. You will carry out domestic duties throughout the night and complete checks on the people that we support, and be there on hand in case they need anything during the night, and then support again come the morning when the people that we support are waking up and getting ready for the day ahead!

We put the people who we support at the heart of what we do. We make sure that everyone is as equally involved with the recruitment process as our very own recruitment team. If you look at the pink box titled "additional information" you'll see some information about some of the people that we support.

Interested in carrying on the conversation?

As long as you have a positive attitude and want to improve the lives of those with a learning disability, we want to hear from you. This role has a unique set of challenges, but our award winning training will ensure that you are the best Support Worker that you can be, whether you have lots experience or are just starting out in your career.

As a support worker, flexibility is key for both yourself and for the service, You may be required to work a variety of different shifts throughout the week, including mornings and evenings. The best thing about flexibility? It's a two-way street. While we may require that you work a variety of shifts, we also understand that you'll have your own commitments and we will try to factor this into our rotas.
