Our client is a leading professional body and trade union, and is the largest organisation of nutrition professionals in the UK; representing the nutrition and dietetic workforce across all sectors. With over 9,200 members, increasing member engagement, advocacy and sense of community is a crucial growth area for them, and the effective management of their vital volunteer networks play a key role in enabling them to do so.
A strength of our client is their 17 Specialist interest Groups (and 9 sub-groups), and their local network of 13 regional Branches across the UK, each with its own member volunteer committee, events and projects to organise, members to engage with and support, and an annual budget to manage, all working within our client and Branch Constitution.
This vital role acts as the main support and office lead to our clients Specialist Group and local Branch committee network of approx. 250 members volunteers, and relies upon nurturing excellent working relationships in order to provide support, advice, guidance and information across governance, policies and a wide range of best practice.
Position: Volunteer Officer (Groups and Branches)
Location: Based in central Birmingham (flexible with some home working, and frequent travel required.)

Salary: £28,876 to £33,108 per annum

About the role:
The role serves as the principal liaison and office lead for their Specialist Group and Branch member volunteer committees. The post holder will advocate our client's policies, strategy, activities and range of services to Specialist Group and Branch Committees, forming strong relationships and vital two-way communication to help influence and develop greater engagement and service provision to members, while supporting the overall activities and aims of each individual specialist interest group and regional branch.
To be successful in this role you will have a high standard of written English grammar accompanied with membership engagement strategies such as recruitment, retention, service development and communications. You will have good IT skills as well as project management skills and the ability to see a project from concept to completion.
You will have experience of member volunteer support services in a comparable role and working in a professional association / charity / member association. It would be great if you have a willingness to be flexible with work schedule to participate in weekend and / or evening work as needed and the ability to travel frequently throughout the UK.
You may be a Member of a relevant professional institute with experience in the health sector or not-for-profit / membership organisations. It would be highly beneficial if you have experience working with Board and Committees, Customer Relation Management System (CRM) or Content management system.
