BQP – the leading pig farming operation
Tulip Ltd and Dalehead Foods is part of the Danish Crown Group and is not only the largest processor of pig meat in the UK, but with over 350 partnership farmers, mainly in East Anglia, is the UK’s biggest pig producer through BQP. We are a totally integrated company and are proud of our “farm to fork” approach. The Agricultural team based at Stradbroke in Suffolk is made up of our team of vets, fields staff, technical and support staff working together to ensure that our supply chain from beginning to end operates within the highest standards of welfare, quality and efficiency.
The role has potential to develop into a multifaceted career, but would predominantly, and certainly initially, be part of the veterinary team, with responsibility for pig health. Our livestock team offices’ are in Suffolk, but the successful applicant would be home based.
Candidates must be a registered MRCVS, and although farm animal experience would be useful it is not essential, as full training would be provided and there is a good support network within the team.
We will consider any applicant, whether you are already a very experienced “pig vet” looking for a change in career, a new graduate who thinks that a future with pigs would suit them or possibly someone who may be considering a new focus in veterinary discipline.
We are looking for someone who has initiative, drive and the ability to organise their own workload, whilst enjoying being part of a team; they must also have strong communication skills with the ability to relate well to others.
You would report to our Lead Veterinary Surgeon but would also be a key member of the production team and work with our nutritional and technical teams.
We actively encourage CPD which is paid for by the company, and there is good opportunity to attend conferences throughout the world, as well as benefit from our Tulip management development programme.
As the job will entail travel, mainly within the UK, a full driver’s licence is essential.
