As our newest Vehicle Technician you will do just this.
We are looking for people to join our teams in Shelton, Shrewsbury to make an instant impact and ensure our vehicles are fit for purpose and our fleet operation is always optimised. The role will offer you the opportunity to use your mechanical mind in finding faults, maintaining, servicing and repairing vehicles in the broad and varied Severn Trent Water fleet - which includes cars, light and heavy commercial vehicles and mobile plant. Your time won't be spent solely on working with vehicles, an element of the job will be computer based; inputting all the key job information into a fleet management system. The role is varied and no day will be the same, you will certainly achieve job satisfaction as this is a very rewarding opportunity and has a direct impact on service levels for the communities which we serve. The successful candidate will have completed a recognised Apprenticeship with City & Guilds qualifications level 2minimum or NVQ equivalent in motor vehicle craft or time served. We'd love it if you've maintained auxiliary equipment like cranes, compressors, generators, vacuum and displacement pumps etc. and have experience of working on various makes and models of commercial vehicles, cars and mobile plant including agricultural and construction. It is essential to have a HGV class 2 licence (we'll support you to obtain your class 1 qualification), and have a driving licence preferably to LGV C + E category. You will be someone who isn't afraid of challenges and is proactive in their approach and is a real team player.

As a Vehicle Technician, your key skills and competencies will include:
* Service and maintain a diverse range of company vehicles and plant to a high standard, ensuring STW and manufacturer guidelines are followed
* Attend to unscheduled maintenance and emergency work as required
* Ensure a safe working environment and behaviours at all times
* Prepare and present company vehicles for annual testing to required standards, ensuring STW target pass rates are achieved
* Customer focused, working productively to minimise vehicle downtime
* Inputting all key job information daily into a fleet management system
* Attend training courses in order improve skill and knowledge
