We are looking to expand our team of dedicated Support Workers at our Trowbridge and Devizes services who are currently supporting 18 adults in total (who's initials will be used in the ad). You will be supporting these people through floating support, across a number of supported living services within the Trowbridge community and our service in Devizes (which overlooks the infamous 'white horse' on the hill). It is due to this style of support that drivers are preferred, but not essential.
We have various contracts available and welcome applicants that are looking for full-time or part-time opportunities. Shifts are rota based and will be spread across morning, afternoons, evening and include sleep ins (Payment for sleep ins is competitive and compliant with National Living Wage requirements). Flexibility is important as all our shifts will be spread across the weekdays and weekends.
Some of the activities you will be supporting the people we support with will include helping them to prepare tasty meals, helping them to understand their money and taking them out to the local community. In particular, you will be supporting T.O to keep their house secure, arrange dental appointments and arrange days out when they're home for the weekend - do you pride yourself on being able to have some fun?
Aside from day to day support, you will also need to support these individuals with their hobbies; be it, ensuring D.G buys their car magazine once a month, going swimming with A.J or going for a celebratory burger with A.B - who doesn't enjoy a cheeky cheeseburger for a Saturday night treat?
The people we support all have a variety of personalities, which requires a dedicated approach to person centred support - something we are passionate about here at Mencap. For example, T.O is great at recognising famous steam trains like the Mallard or remembering classical artists from the past - whereas A.B expresses himself playing his guitar and aspires to be in a rock band!
For further details of some of the people you will be supporting, please click on the 'additional information' attachments at the bottom of this advertisement. From here you will be able to read three of the one page profiles of the people we support, offering you an insight to the people you may be supporting.
As a support worker, all you'll need to have is a positive attitude and a desire to improve the lives of those with a learning disability. If you support the people we care for, we will support you with award winning training and progression opportunities throughout your career with us.
Enhanced DBS is required for each successful candidate.
