UX Designer - Perm - Central London

UX Designer is responsible for supporting the creation of a best-in-class customer experience across the ecommerce platforms. The role will involve some or all aspects of the UXD function including requirements gathering, UX design, prototyping, UI and user testing. Experience with front end development (HTML/CSS, JQuery) would be beneficial. This position reports directly to the Head of UX.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with internal teams to define end-to-end customer journeys for website platforms and features
  • Take ownership of UX design to focus on delivering precisely the experience desired by our customers ensuring that functions and journeys are streamlined to serve spontaneous user needs
  • Materialise customer journeys through the creation of user flows and wireframes to define interactions, layouts and functional component to support template definition across platforms
  • Define the interaction flows and behavior of task-based online applications
  • Work with internal teams to identify and initiate optimisation projects based on site analysis e.g. improvements to checkout journey
  • Conduct research to evaluate user needs and develop customer requirements
  • Evaluate the user experience of the site through Google Analytics and provide regular reports to the business evaluating page performance and identifying opportunities for optimisation
  • Manage accessibility and W3C standards, website optimisation, and promote SEO standards across all projects
  • Ensure that brand guidelines are maintained and managed across all products by working closely with brand teams
  • Work closely with Development team and Project Office to ensure proposed design solutions are feasible from a technical standpoint
  • Experience with HTML, CSS and JavaScript is desirable alongside exposure to the various frameworks: JQuery, Bootstrap, HTML5 Boilerplate, CSS3 (OOCSS).

Skills / Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in computer science
  • Minimum of 5 years proven web design experience, with a wide creative portfolio of completed design projects
  • Experience of working in a fast-paced e-commerce environment with an expert awareness of how web design supports online retail
  • Outstanding organisational, analytical and prioritisation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills as well as a strong work ethic • Ability to work to tight deadlines and manage projects independently
  • Hands on experience of interactive design tools (Adobe Creative Suite) and coding languages (HTML/CSS, JQuery etc.)
  • Strong awareness of analytics, SEO and optimisation practices with a working knowledge of how techniques can be used to improve conversion and drive engagement
  • Expert interpersonal and design client interaction skills. Must be confident working with high-level stakeholders.
