Unified Communications Manager

Based in the UK with regular travel, the German speaking Unified Communications Manager will be responsible for long-range planning and system life-cycle management including: vendor management, operational support, system upgrades, and deployment of the various telecommunication systems and opportunities deployed across Europe. This position involves considerable project planning, coordination and execution across multiple IT and business teams in multiple countries. The ideal candidate will be self-reliant in technical projects and assignments, require minimal guidance from management, possess the ability to work well under pressure, facilitate solutions and meet deadlines and milestones for high profile projects and work assignments.

Directly managing a technical team with internal (shared service and remote infrastructure teams) and external vendor support, the successful candidate will assume day to day operational responsibility for existing Alcatel and Avaya systems in some countries, with accountability for evolving systems in others. Defining a strategy for contact centres, internal and external voice and video communications, he or she will have an appreciation of traditional, existing and evolving technologies with a view to providing and supporting a future-proof voice / video environment that meets and exceeds the business needs. This is not a highly technical networking role although in depth experience and knowledge of networking technologies would be beneficial alongside those of unified communications.

As well as complete fluency in English and German languages, technical know-how and proven interpersonal, personnel and vendor management skills, the UC Manager must be comfortable liaising / presenting at all levels in a complex organisation with a strong administrative background understanding budgeting and resource controls.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential.


1.Configure, manage and support existing Alcatel and Avaya telephone systems and services including responsibility for research of new features, functionalities and relevant enhancements (upgrades)

2.Identify business goals and objectives across multiple businesses and strategise, propose and implement high performing, highly available systems and solutions to meet said business goals and objectives

3.Create and maintain detailed documentation on ACD’s, IVR’s, call flows, agents and stations including non-geographic, local ISDN and SIP numbers and functionalities

4.Deploy Europe-wide dial plans / opportunities for costs savings through SIP / VoIP

5.Maintain cost control and accountability over all Unified Communication expenses including relations with carriers and third-party vendors and contractors
