Underwriter - Marine Liability/Ports & Terminals

Our client is a leading provider of insurance and related risk management services to the international transport and logistics industry. They specialise in the insurance of liabilities and equipment within the maritime industry and customers range from some of the world’s largest shipping lines, busiest ports, biggest freight forwarders and cargo handling terminals, to companies operating a handful of vehicles.

Our client is looking for a team minded underwriter who has the drive and passion to make a difference and add value to the business. The main purpose of the role will be to provide full technical underwriting in respect of retention of business and the generation of new business.

There are a wide range of duties including but not limited to, direct dealings with brokers and clients on day-to-day underwriting issues, developing new business enquiries and retaining existing business in accordance with underwriting guidelines and maintaining frequent dialogue with claims executives regarding claims developments and trends on the portfolio.

Ideally all candidates will have a minimum of 5 years underwriting experience and ACII qualification would definitely be an advantage. Experience of marine liability insurance is essential, and marine/non-marine property experience is an advantage. Fluent English (spoken and written is a pre-requisite) and a European language would be beneficial. There will also be the requirement to travel from time to time.
