First steps into site management as an Under Foreman/Machine Lay Surfacing Operative with Aggregate Industries, leading player in construction solutions.
Aggregate Industries is a member of the LafargeHolcim Group and a leading supplier of traditional and sustainable construction materials to major building and construction customers. We’re committed to helping create a better built environment.
Based at our busy Peterborough asphalt plant, you’ll deputise for the lead foreman on highways projects in Cambridgeshire, overseeing work and liaising with commercial teams and supervisors. This will include carrying out site briefings and completing documentation in the lead foreman’s absence. You’ll also operate mobile plant, as well as carrying out general labouring duties as required. We place a high value on a good public image, so good site housekeeping will be an important part of the job. Health and safety compliance is, of course, crucial, and you’ll be expected to set a good example of industry best practice at all times.
You’ll need great communication and people skills; hard working and conscientious, you should have an organised approach to planning and time management, too. Initiative and enthusiasm are essential, and you’ll be able to work calmly under pressure and without supervision, either as part of a team or as an individual. In addition to a valid driving licence, you should have:
• Experience of highways work
• Working familiarity with all relevant plant and equipment (with tickets)
• Ideally, a track record in local authority urban highways contracts.
