Trustee of Teckels Animal Sanctuaries

Posted 31 January by The Big Give Ended
Teckels Animal Sanctuaries is a small registered charity whose primary aim is to provide the best possible care to animals who find themselves in need of help. Animal welfare is at the heart of our philosophy and we are working hard to provide the appropriate rehabilitation and behavioural support  to the dogs and cats in our care who need this extra support.  We believe our approach is more likely to achieve a better chance of  a successful re-homing and passionately believe that every cat and dog deserves a happy, fulfilling life.

Over the years we have rescued and re-homed thousands of animals.  We do not discriminate against old or sick animals and have a non-destruction policy.  Everything we do is focused on improving the lives of the wonderful animals who come into our care.

Our creation of a safe and caring environment spreads beyond our four legged friends.  We are proud to work hard within the community by providing volunteering opportunities for a number of adults with special needs and learning difficulties.

Being a trustee of Teckels Animal Sanctuaries is a challenging and rewarding position.  We are seeking motivated individuals who are actively involved in corporate or community networks within Gloucestershire or have Risk Management, Governance, Fundraising, Marketing, Legal or HR experience in order to enhance our existing board.

This voluntary position will best suit individuals who have the time and energy required to be a conscientious and attentive board member and will actively help the Charity achieve its objectives and vision of becoming a best in class animal rescue centre.

What we are looking for: Characteristics include: Enthusiasm and motivation, can do attitude, comfortable working as part of a team as well as individually, breadth of vision and a record of independent judgment, an inquiring mind, ability to speak articulately and succinctly.

An ability to recognize the sometimes ambiguous distinction between management and governance.  An ability to consistently sustain a total institutional perspective in his or her and the board’s work, without allegiance or commitment to anything except the good of the charity.

Practical considerations: A minimum of 15 hours per month required -
one evening per month to attend monthly trustee meetings (approx 16:30-18:30 on a Tuesday or Wednesday evening) plus working from home or at the Charity for trustee related business.
A background in Governance,  Risk Management, Management, Fundraising, Legal, Business strategy or HR hugely valuable.
