Trust Controller/Supervisor - London
The London Trust and Estate team is an extremely busy team and acts on a broad range of matters for an extensive client base. The team currently provides a service for approximately 200 Trusts; probates; estates; small private charities; individual clients and their families and family office type administrative services.
We also offer bespoke estate and IHT planning advice for new and existing clients and we work closely in association with our in house Financial Planning Team and the Tax Team in relation to advising high net worth individuals. As part of the Trusts and Estates team service line plan in London and firm-wide, and as part of the wider private client and tax plans, we are looking to continue the significant growth that we have achieved in the last few years.
To facilitate this growth plan we require a new Trust and Probate Controller or Supervisor who can offer support to Trust Team clients and show aptitude and potential to develop within our trust and estate offering moving forward.
Reporting to the Trust Partner and Senior Trust Manager, you will be an integral member of the trust department, which looks after a large number of trusts, deceased estates and high net worth families. You will provide taxation and general advice regarding trust formation, reorganisations involving breaking trusts and general IHT planning. You will be responsible for managing your own portfolio of clients, with appropriate support.
The role has some specific features which distinguish it from typical trust controller or supervisor roles:-
- A high level of technical expertise is required;
You will be responsible for supporting high net worth family groups;
You will also support the team’s workflow, billing and debtors and ensure that key deadlines, including annual accounts and tax compliance are met;
Direct client contact.

- Experience as a trust controller or supervisor within a trust team;
Experience of supporting a dedicated team of trust advisers;
Good interpersonal skills;
STEP membership or willing to study for the qualification.
- Experience of supporting high net worth family groups;
Experience of offshore trusts;
Probate and estate experience (not essential, as training will be given);
Accountancy or tax qualification or willing to study (a full study support package will be offered).
