Trial Support Lab Technician

The position for a Trial Support Technician has arisen for my client, a large global FMCG organisation based in Waltham on the Wolds, Leicestershire. This is an excellent opportunity to grow and develop within a highly renowned and unique business. This role would be ideal for someone wanting to start their career gaining experience in a scientific laboratory. This role is key in supporting the department and to provide support for the implementation of research needs. This role is for a minimum of 12 months and starts ASAP via Adecco. Hours per week are 37.5/Monday to Friday/ 8am to 4pm. But please note that flexibility is required due to trial timings, you may be required to start earlier or finish later plus you may be required to work the odd weekends and bank holidays with days off in the week. Pay rate is £8.10 per hour. Due to the location of the role you must have own transportation.


This role consists of but not limited to these tasks and do require a degree in scientific discipline or GCSE in Maths, English and Science with experience of working in a laboratory environment

Primary task (90%)

- Hands on in the laboratory to perform a number of experimental procedures with attention to detail and strict adherence to company standards of laboratory practice in order to provide - Support for the delivery of the research plan across a range of competency areas.
- Interpreting and adhering to risk assessments and standard operating procedures
- Involved in generation of new risk assessments for new procedures
- Preparing a variety of solutions and gels for taste testing and sensory panel testing
- Processing biological samples for laboratory analysis
- Snap freezing samples on liquid nitrogen
- Disposing of chemicals appropriately
- Recording data electronically
- Lab cleaning and tidying and routine maintenance on lab equipment

Secondary tasks (10%)

- attending trial planning meetings, trial after action reviews and liaising with research members on trial requirements and progress updates
