We are looking for 10 people with a learning disability to join our brand new Steering Group for the Treat me well campaign.
The Treat me well campaign is about improving hospital care for people with a learning disability.
We are setting up this steering group so that we have more voices to share views and opinions to help us make the campaign as good as it can be.
These are the main things Steering Group members will do:
- Members will come to meetings
There will be at least 3 meetings a year and Mencap will support group members to get to them.
- Members will help decide what the Treat me well campaign will be like
There are choices to make about:
- What things are most important for us to work on
- How we will get people to join in the campaign.
- Members will help us make sure we listen to everyone
We need to make sure the campaign is working for everyone with a learning disability.
- Members will help us make sure that what we make is easy for people with a learning disability to understand
We need to check our booklets and videos to see if they are easy to understand.
It is important to us that you have worked as part of a group before and that you care about making healthcare better for people with a learning disability.
You need to be able to talk to other people and be happy to travel to different places around England for meetings.
If you are successful and become a Steering Group member, you will get paid for the hours that you work and we will pay for travel costs.
If you would like to ask any questions about the campaign and what you need to do, you can contact Jo Davies on 020-769-654-62.
There is an easy read application form and job description available to download on the 'role profile' and 'additional information' tab below.
