Travel Consultant

Maternity Cover

£16k to £16,800 pa

Invigorate recruitment is working with its client in Ilkley to recruit an experienced Travel Consultant for a maternity cover commencing June 2018.

Duties include all aspects of Leisure Travel work, which involves handling customer enquiries and booking travel in compliance with company standards.

This is a hands-on role with extensive reservations work.

Main duties/responsibilities
  • Handling of all forms of leisure travel requirements on behalf of the general public.
  • Efficiently managing customer enquiries through to the booking/confirmation stage:

o Carrying out detailed research and comparing prices to ensure customers are offered the most appropriate and cost-effective options.

o Selling the benefits of both the options presented

o Making bookings using a variety of methods.

o Selling ancillary products.

o Advising customers on the relevant passport, visa and health requirements.

o Managing the administration element of bookings, which will include payments, invoicing and checking/presenting travel documents.

  • To assist in marketing our business:

o Setting up and managing TV screen content.

o Participation in any in-store events.

o Helping to manage any marketing initiatives.

  • To adhere to company guidelines, regulations and policies at all times.
  • To open and sort mail
  • To label, re-stock and order brochures as required.
  • To participate in appropriate company and departmental training and development initiatives.

Qualities & Experience

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and will be comfortable dealing with customers face-to-face and on the telephone.

Previous experience of working in an independent travel agency is essential.

A good worldwide geographical knowledge and experience of tailor-made and cruise holidays will be required.

Computer literacy is important to this role.

Flexibility is a must in terms of days worked, and the ability to cover for holidays.

The standard working week is 37.5 hours over 5-days

Hours are 0900 to 1730 Monday to Friday and 0900 to 1600 on a Saturday.

Holidays are pro-rated from an annual entitlement of 25-days plus bank holidays.
