You will be fully accountable and take ownership for the efficient planning of transport routes for all Depots and the Maintenance function within the Depot.
To organise staff (e.g. Routes, Holidays, WTD Hours), delegate tasks and deal with day to day staffing issues as necessary (sickness, disciplinary) to ensure adequate staffing and performance levels are maintained so the Transport operation runs smoothly and customer service requirements are met.
On a daily, weekly and periodic basis, monitor and analyse vehicle and driver costs, vehicle utilisation, fuel usage, KPI and operational data, making operational adjustments accordingly in order to achieve overall performance targets and identify improvement opportunities.
To work collaboratively with the Distribution Team to ensure that all breakdowns and delays are dealt with in a speedy manner, and where appropriate, liaising with and updating customer services on progress.
Dealing with customer queries/complaints in a professional and sympathetic manner recording all information and reporting any significant issues that may impact on the business to the Distribution Manager.
To ensure compliance by performing required legal and Health & Safety procedures/checks. Acting as necessary in order to ensure that any issues are identified, reported and rectified to ensure a safe and legally compliant environment is operated at all times whilst constantly improving the safety culture.
Weekly meetings to be conducted with the Transport Manager to discuss previous weeks costs, team performance, service and operations performance levels and actions taken/required.
To Control daily VOR's and record/report appropriately, hiring vehicles when VOR's occur.
To work with the Operations Trainer to improve driving safety and ability standards.
What We Are Looking For
Full Driving License (including 7.5 tonne vehicles).
Demonstrable experience of working in a busy transport office.
Detailed knowledge of relevant legislation including drivers hours, tachograph regs.
Good knowledge of Microsoft packages ensuring all administration is up to date and easy accessible in the event of a DSVA visit.
