Job Title: Transport Shift Manager
Location: Greenford

Job description

The purpose of the Transport Shift Manager role is to deploy the operations plan and meet customer requirements while ensuring full legal compliance. Also to manage and motivate a team of drivers and complete the administration

Your tasks and responsibilities

  • To monitor & control the performance of the Transport Planner, Compliance Administrator and the driving teams
  • To monitor & control departmental absence and holiday bookings
  • To ensure return to work interviews are completed in a timely manner & to the company standard
  • To ensure all transport legislative requirements are met
  • To liaise with the Transport Manager to ensure all service & MOT dates are met
  • To effectively control the defect process and ensure all repairs are completed in a timely manner
  • To Liaise with the Warehouse operations on all issues relating to loading and planning
  • To ensure the effective and timely debriefing of all drivers
  • To ensure the effective management of the Digi Card system
  • To be the focal point for all Transport related queries and to resolve all issues
  • To effectively manage the Key Control process for all Goods in deliveries and assign delivery to the relevant area
  • Comply with Food Safety Regulations and CMI standards
  • To perform any other duties as required by the Transport Manager
  • All tasks and operation to meet Health & Safety and Operators License compliance
  • Lead and implement any existing and new customer strategies, build and maintain partnerships to achieve goals
  • Deliver and support continuous improvement projects to successful implementation
  • Regularly review driver's shifts against delivery schedule to make sure all department hours are optimised to their full potential

Your skills and experience

  • Department and Customer KPIs are to be met
  • Ensure drivers are up to date on all legal and training development needs
  • Excellent communications and organisational skills
  • Must be proactive, strongly motivated and resilience with project management skills
  • Previous documented experience in 3rd party logistics management
  • Previous documented experience in managing a team with excellent results
  • Full national Certificate of Competence (CPC)
  • Computer literate in Excel, Word and Outlook
  • A working knowledge of both WTD and digital tacho
  • Ability to build relationships with customers, suppliers & other internal departments
  • A methodical approach combined with attention to administrative detail
