Transport Planner – Permanent Role

Salary: £35,000 per year potentially more (DOE)

Location: Redditch

Hours: Full Time, 40 hours per week (Monday–Friday, 08:00–17:00 with 1-hour unpaid lunch break)

Coats Recruitment is delighted to be recruiting on a permanent basis for our well-established client in the logistics sector. This is an exciting opportunity to join a successful and growing business within the Transport and Distribution industry.

Key Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
  • Day-to-day route planning and scheduling
  • Ensuring vehicle utilisation is efficient to maximise cost-effectiveness
  • Maintaining compliance with Vehicle and Tachograph legislation
  • Liaising with drivers and account managers to resolve issues and maintain service standards
  • Scheduling vehicle maintenance work and rectifying any defects that arise
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
  • Minimum 1 year’s route planning experience
  • Strong communication and administration skills
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience using Transport Management Systems (TMS)
  • Knowledge of Driver Time Directive regulations
  • Good geographical knowledge of the UK road network
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
Contract & Working Hours:
  • Permanent, full-time role (40 hours per week)
  • Core hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00–17:00 (1-hour unpaid lunch)
  • Flexibility required – as this is a live transport planning role, overtime may be needed to maintain service levels when necessary
