I am actively looking to engage experienced Transport Planners for an exciting opportunity in the Derbyshire area. The opportunity will see the successful candidate employed by a market-leading 3PL business.
My client is a market leading global 3PL business based in Derbyshire. They operate on a variety of different prestigious contracts across their network. The contract in question is an extremely fast-paced FMCG operation with a centralised planning team. My client offers great prospects for personal development across both this individual contract and also across their wider network.
As a Transport Planner this role is anything but a standard planning role; you will be in charge of a vast amount of deliveries, back-loads, sub-contraction and will liaise with the customer (at both ends) plus manufacturing sites. Overall this role is certainly 360 degrees and is much more than typical A to B planning; it focuses upon numerous distribution networks. As a Transport Planner you will report directly in to the Transport Planning Manager and join a team of 10 additional planners.
Personal fit in my clients structure is key as you will work very closely with other members of the team. The team are targeted on key KPI's with a focus around efficient and cost-effective load plans. Cost performance is certainly the bottom line and you will be continuously challenged to analyse route plans to create the most cost effective solution in a busy environment. You will also be required to identify and execute financial savings and increase revenue streams across the network, with a total goal of increasing profitability.
The successful Transport Planner will have the following skills and attributes:
- 3+ years experience within a Transport or Production Planning environment.
- Ideally experience of Centralised Planning.
- History of working for a 3PL or General Haulage business.
- Ideally educated to degree level - BA / BSc / BEng / etc.
- Commutable to the Derbyshire area.
£23,000 - £29,000
