Trainee Quantity Surveyor/ Estimator

The Quantity Surveyor / Estimator will be expected to assist the Commercial Manger with the various day to day Estimating and Surveying tasks required to keep the commercial department running smoothly. They will be required work under pressure in order to meet tight deadlines and able to handle a varied and at times unbalanced workload.

Key Initial Responsibilities

  1. Reviewing tender documents and understanding the requirements of the specification/drawings
  2. Taking quantities off drawings and producing accurate price estimates
  3. Preparing tender submissions in the required format for submission to the Client
  4. Liaising with Clients throughout the tendering process
  5. Production of Site Handover Packs upon award of a new contract
  6. Produce labour targets and material quantities
  7. Recording and monitoring the progress of works on each site on a weekly basis
  8. Processing timesheets and subcontract invoices
  9. Identification, pricing and agreement of variations and day works
  10. Providing support and dealing with enquiries from the Contracts Manager and other site based personnel
  11. General administration duties including maintaining up to date matrices containing critical information relating to labour, materials, tender and client information
  12. Monthly valuations of materials on site

Key Requirements for the Role

  1. Ability to understand construction drawings and specifications
  2. Strong math skills
  3. Ability to use Microsoft excel and understand/write complicated formula
  4. Good communication skills
  5. Ability to organise and prioritise workload
