Trainee Marine Surveyor - Maritime Industry - based in Cardiff Bay

Our client is one of the world’s leading independent global inspection and consultancy firms, supporting the maritime industry. They inspect hundreds of vessels on a global scale for a number of blue chip clients from the financial, ship-owning, ship-broking, chartering and insurance industries.

To service their growing client base, they have developed an exciting new programme for a Trainee Marine Surveyor which offers a rewarding and challenging career development path for a motivated, ambitious and committed individual looking for a shore-based career in the maritime sector.

The programme will follow a strict three-year development plan leading to an outstanding opportunity for the right candidate to become a fully qualified and multi-disciplined Marine Surveyor.

Trainee Marine Survey candidates for this programme will:

  • Be educated to a degree level or equivalent or hold a Higher National Diploma or Foundation Degree in a maritime discipline
  • Possess a minimum of four years' sea time; alternatively, be able to display relevant and recent experience of a hands-on shipping role within a ship owning, ship management, classification, flag state or other maritime environment
  • Have an EU-working entitlement and be willing to work in, and relocate to Cardiff, UK
  • Be prepared to initially work in an office-based administrative position within an office environment whilst developing towards a hands-on role within the marine environment
  • Be willing to travel short-distances around UK and Europe as required, often at short notice
  • Be hard working and enthusiastic
  • Be motivated and committed to developing a lengthy career in the shipping industry

Year 1 Salary Expectations are circa £28,000 per annum + training package + benefits

Year 2 Salary Expectations are circa £30,000 per annum + training package + benefits

Year 3 Salary Expectations are circa £32,000 per annum + training package + benefits

Please note, you must have an EU Working Entitlement.
