Trainee Legacy Officer (12 month FTC)
We’re recruiting a Trainee Legacy Officer. This is a newly created position, within the growing Legacy Income team, reporting directly to the Assistant Legacy Manager.
Following a 12 month training programme, the successful candidate will ultimately be able to manage a straightforward caseload to optimise, monitor and expedite legacy income to the Society and its branches, which at £70m is the largest source of income for the Society.
This role will work closely with the Legacy Officer Team to receive mentoring, guidance and tuition on all aspects of legacy case work to develop the required skills to provide legacy related legal advice across the Society.
The team fulfills a vital role as legacies fund over half of the work RSPCA does to improve the welfare of animals. The Legacy Income team are responsible for sensitively managing 2700 gifts each year.

Support Legacy Officers in completing straightforward case management tasks in the event of absence or high levels of workload.
Liaise with solicitors and lay executors.
Record and keep updated legacy case information.
Provide information or case studies relating to legacies to the Legacy Marketing team for use in promotional material.
Monitor legal costs and raise any concerns as appropriate.
Analyse and assess the wording of a gift in a Will or information that has come to light in respect of the allocation of the funds.
