Trainee/Junior Compliance Officer

Posted 11 March by Culverlands Risk & Compliance Easy Apply Ended

Culverlands is a growing compliance consultancy with clients mostly in the south-east of England, including London. We provide Risk & Compliance services to financial firms authorised and regulated by the FCA. This is a full time role near Tunbridge Wells (Kent).

This suitable for a person starting with, or looking for a new career, to learn and grow in the Risk and Compliance industry. Professional education assistance is available for relevant education. We require a confident person with high ethical and moral standards to work in a regulated industry.

You must have excellent people skills, can think on your feet and make quick, decisive decisions, because you will provide instructions to clients' staff.

You must have an eye for detail when reading documents, because you must be able to spot mistakes, discrepancies, typos and poor English. You can work under pressure with deadlines and to a high level of accuracy because sometimes we have to deliver quickly.

You don't need to be a mathwiz, but ideally you are able to make sense of basic financial figures, because you will learn to assess if a firm has sufficient capital and can manage its risk.

You must be able to conduct research and can present your findings. You are excellent with MS Word and Excel and willing to learn.

You are able to read rules, make check-list thereof and evaluate processes based on those check-lists.

You do not blindly follow the crowd - but will question why things are done in a specific way and can argue your case.

You're not expected to know everything, but you want to learn and apply what you've learned. If you have any compliance, legal or accounting qualifications (or part thereof) it would be a bonus.

There is very little travel (if any) involved. Normal business hours are required, but willingness to put in extra when we're under pressure is valued.
