We are currently working with an independent Insurance Broker, who are now seeking to recruit a Trainee/Junior Commercial Claims Handler in its Leatherhead office.

This role would suit an individual looking to start a great career in insurance as the position offers full training and offers the successful individual the opportunity to gain qualifications within the sector to become a fully qualified Insurance Claims Handler.
Your role as a Claims Handler will include a wide range of duties, but first and foremost you will be required to take full responsibility for Motor Fleet, Commercial Vehicle and Liability claims
Allocated, and manage the claims process from cradle to grave. This includes contesting claims which have been repudiated and providing broking arguments. You will also be required to ensure that there are clear lines of communication between claims and broking teams, which will involve the passing on of all relevant information to the relevant people, liaison with Account Executives and Management teams to ensure delivery of service standards as agreed, as well as developing and maintaining relationships with key suppliers - being Insurers and Loss Adjusters. You will also be required to keep abreast of legislative and regulatory changes and analysing the impact from a claims perspective and keeping up to date on case law.
In order to be considered for the position of Junior Claims Handler previous insurance experience would be a distinct advantage, although my client is happy to consider graduates and second jobbers with no insurance experience as again, full training is provided. An interest in moving into claims would also be desirable.
Excellent interpersonal skills - both over the telephone and face to face coupled with the ability to learn new skills quickly and being able to work well as part of a team are also attributes sought after. You will also be willing to study industry qualifications. Finally, a minimum of 5 GCSE’s (or equivalent) including English & Maths at grade A-C are required.
This is a full-time role, with working hours of Monday to Friday, 9am-5.15pm with one hour for lunch.
Salary is £18k per annum to start, plus discretionary bonus.
