As a result of continued growth, this award-winning insurance company, based in Bristol, has a superb opportunity for a Trainee Underwriter to specialise within the fascinating sector of Legal Expenses Insurance.

Our client is very much the 'go to’ provider of Legal Expenses products, which it supplies to an impressive number of insurance brokers throughout the UK. The company is going through an exciting period of development, fuelled by organic growth, as well as from the acquisition of other complimentary businesses in its specialist sector. The company provides a wide range of products to cater for both commercial and private customers, and is well-renowned for its innovative approach to providing bespoke insurance solutions.

It is not essential that you have previous experience specifically within Legal Expenses Insurance, because full, comprehensive training will be provided.

This is a very varied role, where you will be managing your own portfolio of insurance business, taking ownership of accounts in collaboration with the sales team. Duties will include, but not be limited to, reviewing and assessing new insurance business applications and providing the sales team with quotations, using your analytical skills to understand historic trends and claims experiences, and monitoring your insurance portfolio to ensure it meets the company’s risk appetite and remains profitable. In addition, you’ll liaise with brokers and other intermediaries to maintain strong relationships.

Our client ranks as one the best companies to work for in the insurance industry, and one of the best in the West Country in the 'Best Companies Survey’. The training and development the company provides to all staff has been fundamental to the company’s success, and it is fully committed to offering people every opportunity to broaden their skills and continue their professional development. "Wherever you are in your career, we’ll help you to take the next step."

It is absolutely essential that you have strong numeracy and literacy skills, backed up with a good standard of education. You will be comfortable working with and manipulating numbers in Excel, in order to understand historical trends and future projections. You must also be well-organised, have attention to detail, and be comfortable assessing information quickly and effectively. You’ll enjoy working as part of a busy team, and relish in swapping from one task to another. Just as importantly, you’ll have the genuine desire to learn and challenge yourself.

The company operates a hybrid-working arrangement, allowing you to work from home up to 3 days a week. You’ll be working from state-of-the-art offices in an incredibly friendly, supportive and collaborative working. There is also a great social scene, with fully-expensed quarterly events.

You’ll be rewarded with a competitive basic salary, together with an impressive range of company benefits, including but not limited to, a generous holiday allowance (with the option to buy additional days), large pension contributions, free insurance, health cash plans, gym subsidy, and much more.

If you are looking to develop your career with one of the finest companies in the South West, then apply in confidence today.
